QualitEE Project makes Valuable Contributions to a New European Standard for Savings Contracting (EPC)
The QualitEE project held a conference in Madrid from 8th to 10th October in cooperation with partners and energy efficiency experts. Several project meetings and a public workshop were held in which informative discussions were held on the perspectives of quality assurance for energy efficiency services.
During the meeting of the European Advisory Council on 9th October, Ettore Piantoni, an industry expert leading a group of the European standardisation body CEN-CENELEC, which is about to develop a new European standard for savings contracting (EPC), met with the partners. Discussions on the status and structure of national quality assurance systems being developed across Europe and on the draft technical guidelines for energy efficiency services of the QualitEE project provided some ideas to be taken into account in the development of the new EPC standard.
A public workshop on 10th October was attended by over 15 local industry experts and stakeholders. In panel discussions, energy efficiency stakeholders examined the role of energy service providers (ESCOs) and the benefits of quality assurance and certification systems for EPCs in Spain and beyond.
Overall, the QualitEE conference was able to successfully involve industry experts and stakeholders to discuss the perspectives of quality assurance systems and the wider opportunities for energy efficiency services across Europe.
