Klemens Leutgöb studied social economy at the University of Linz (specialization: Environmental Economics, Strategic Management, Organisational Sciences). After research activities at the Vienna University of Technology and at the Open University Bratislava, where he dealt with system dynamic models for the Slovak national economy and energy economy, he was a research assistant at the Austrian Energy Agency (formerly E.V.A.) from 1994 to 2007. From 1994 to 1999 he was responsible for the thematic area "Energy Partnerships with the Countries of Central and Eastern Europe", then for the thematic area "Energy Efficiency in Buildings" and from 2004 Head of the business area "Buildings and Space Heating". Since July 2007 he has been Managing Director of e7 Energie Markt Analyse GmbH.

Klemens Leutgöb deals in particular with the following topics: Energy policy instruments and measures, monitoring and evaluation of measure and programme effects, climate protection policy, energy industry issues, energy efficiency in buildings (focus: service buildings), life cycle costs of buildings, savings contracting and energy services.

Klemens Leutgöb relaxes while reading and enjoying jazz music, as long as his three daughters let him read or listen to music.
